About The Book

It all started in 1967 during the Nigerian Civil war. The protagonist, Zara, was an adopted daughter of a village woman named Elizabeth. Zara and her little brother were kids caught in the web of a brutal and senseless war. The two kids were adopted when their parents were killed during the war.

Zara had witnessed the war and most heartbreakingly, seen her parents die. The screams from the neighbour?s house had prepared them for the run since it was imminent that they would be the next victims. So their mother and father took the little children and ran into the bush. But they had barely made it to the barren Odara tree when two of the marauding soldiers appeared behind them. They slaughtered their father and brutally violated their mother right before their eyes.

There was blood; there were tears but the latter left Zara with the belief that women deserve better.
