READS AFRICA WRITERS AWARD: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

READS Africa Writers Award is an annual honour bestowed on a writer who has successfully written a literary work under the READS Campaign Africa vision. We offer new and unpublished authors, all over Africa, excellent opportunities and publishing contracts to write short stories, plays, and poetry under the vision of the READS Campaign Africa.

Writers whose works are selected get published on the Record Breakers web/mobile app with a publishing grant. The finalists are invited to the annual READS Africa Conference which holds in Nigeria, where the winner of the READS Africa Writers Award is crowned.

Guidelines for Submissions

Note that your submission will be acknowledged and assessed by our editors. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we may not be able to respond to you immediately. We will contact you if we are provisionally interested in publishing your work, after which we would ask for more of your material. If we find the work to our standard, we will contact you for further discussions.

You would be required to attach a synopsis of about 500 words of the work you are submitting, preferably in Microsoft Word. Include all major plot points in your synopsis.

You would also have to attach a sample of your work. This should be the first 3 chapters or first 3 stories of your manuscript.

Send your manuscript sample in: double line spacing, indented paragraph, and justified. We prefer Courier New font type with a font size of 12pt.

To sell your work(s) on the Rekordbreakers platforms, send your submissions, including your data (full name, address, and telephone number) to the email address: readscampaign@gmail.com
